The Montgomery County Food Policy Council has introduced an exciting new initiative called Agventure—a fun and interactive farm bingo challenge designed to connect community members with local agriculture. Running from May 30 to November 30, 2025, the program encourages residents to visit farms, shop at farmers markets, pick fresh produce, and enjoy farm-to-table meals.
Participants will complete bingo-style cards by engaging in different agricultural activities across the county. Each completed row on the card earns points that can be redeemed for prizes like coffee mugs, lunch containers, or cooler bags. This hands-on approach offers a unique way for people of all ages to experience farming while supporting local food producers.
Montgomery County is home to more than 550 farms, with 194 of them permanently preserved through the county’s farmland preservation program. Neil Makhija, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, highlighted that this initiative helps people make healthy, sustainable choices and discover the county’s diverse agricultural landscape.
“I am excited to have some Montco Agventures with my family–whether it’s farm-made ice cream, trying fresh produce from a stand or market, or picking apples. This is a fun way for kids and families to connect with food and agriculture, and potentially earn some prizes,” said Jamila H. Winder, Montgomery County Commissioner. “It’s also a great opportunity to discover new places and support our local food system, while building strong connections between the community and the hardworking farmers who keep our farmlands thriving.”
“We have a strong farming tradition in Montgomery County and a local food economy that plays an important role in supporting our community and our local businesses,” said Thomas DiBello, Montgomery County Commissioner. “The Agventure Challenge brings more awareness and support to the local farms that provide fresh, quality produce and help drive the local economy.”
To participate, download a bingo card from the Agventure webpage or pick one up at libraries, state legislator offices, or farmers markets. Upload photos of your completed activities online to win.
