This April, dairy producers and their teams have a unique opportunity to elevate their animal care practices at free workshops hosted across Pennsylvania.
Organized by the Center for Dairy Excellence, PA Beef Council, and the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania, these events aim to enhance skills in critical animal welfare areas, ensuring compliance with the National FARM (Farmers Assuring Responsible Management) Program.
Participants will receive a certificate demonstrating their dedication to animal care and National FARM standards. The workshops, designed for both English and Spanish-speaking farm employees, will cover topics such as calf care, lameness prevention, euthanasia protocols, and stockmanship. Lunch is provided, adding an extra incentive for attendance.
The workshops are scheduled at four dairy farms throughout the state, offering convenient options for all interested parties. They will feature interactive stations where attendees can gain practical experience and knowledge to apply on their own farms.
Amy Brickner of Stover Farms shared her positive experience, noting her employees' appreciation for the training and their enhanced understanding of biosecurity and animal welfare.
To participate in this enriching program, dairy producers can register their employees by contacting the Center for Dairy Excellence. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those looking to support these crucial educational efforts.
These workshops not only serve as a platform for learning and skill-building but also highlight the dairy industry's commitment to responsible and compassionate animal management. As the industry continues to evolve, such training is indispensable for maintaining high standards of care and operation efficiency.
