Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding invites Pennsylvanians to experience the finest locally produced food and drinks at the 109th PA Farm Show’s PA Preferred® Reception. The event, held on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, marks the official start of Pennsylvania’s State Fair™.
“The PA Preferred reception celebrates Pennsylvania’s best, and the hardworking Pennsylvanians who produce it,” said Secretary Redding.
The PA Preferred program represents the best of Pennsylvania’s agricultural products, including locally grown food, beverages, and other goods like hardwoods. Products bearing the PA Preferred yellow and blue logo guarantee that the purchase supports local farmers and contributes to the state's economy.
Tickets for the PA Preferred Reception are priced at $40 for the general public, $20 for PA Preferred members, and are free for military-veteran farmers who are members of Homegrown By Heroes. Registration is required by December 28. PA Preferred members can receive a promotional code for a discount. The ticket includes admission to the reception, parking, heavy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and a preview of highlights from the upcoming 2025 Pennsylvania Farm Show.
The event offers an opportunity for PA Preferred members and local businesses to support the reception through in-kind donations for the menu. Various sponsorship opportunities are also available, with sponsors gaining visibility through event signage and complimentary tickets. Interested sponsors can contact the event organizers for more details.
Following the reception, PA Preferred members and their products will be showcased throughout the eight days of the Farm Show. At the PA Preferred Culinary Connection Stage, visitors can enjoy culinary demonstrations by celebrity chefs, including Chef Jet Tila, a Food Network star and author. The stage will feature recipes from local culinary schools, allowing attendees to sample dishes and gather inspiration for their own farm-to-table experiences. The event aims to highlight Pennsylvania’s agricultural diversity and promote the state’s rich culinary heritage.
