"PA Veteran Farming Project Launches New Website to Support Veterans in Agriculture"

On May 20th, in celebration of Armed Forces Day, the PA Veteran Farming Project unveiled its newly launched website, pavetfarms.org. This launch coincides with the organization's 10th anniversary, commemorating a decade of dedicated service to veterans and military personnel in Pennsylvania, assisting them in establishing thriving farms and agribusinesses.

Visitors to the website will discover an updated map showcasing veteran-owned farms, agritourism destinations, and food and beverage producers across the state. This innovative tool facilitates the purchase of local, veteran-grown, raised, and made products, allowing consumers to support military families and choose farm-fresh food.

Rhonda Smith, US Air Force veteran and Board Chair, emphasized the significance of military personnel finding purpose in nourishing their communities. pavetfarms.org serves as a platform where consumers seeking local, farm-fresh food can easily locate veteran-owned farms nearby.

The website offers a comprehensive range of resources for veterans, military personnel, and their spouses, catering to both aspiring and established farmers. Accessible on both PCs and mobile devices, this one-stop-shop provides information on educational events, funding opportunities, business planning, state and federal agricultural resources, as well as programs like Troops to Tractors and Bee Bootcamp.

The PA Veteran Farming Network extends its gratitude to Horizon Farm Credit and member farms for their financial support in making this 10th-anniversary project a reality.
