Adams County is still dry and crops are showing signs of drought. Corn and soybeans continue to mature. Some corn is really drying down quickly and corn silage is being harvested and some soybeans are starting to have leaves turn that were planted earlier in planting season. Hay continues to be made throughout the county when weather permits. Some producers are seeding cover crops and preparing soil for fall seedings but lack of moisture is a concern also. Peaches continue to be harvested. Apples are being harvested with concerns about how they will keep in storage again this year. Yields are good in some areas and other areas will have yields affected by weather conditions. Vegetables are still plentiful around the county at farmers markets and on farm markets. Producers are readying harvest equipment for future fall crop harvest and also for fall seedings.

ADAMS/FRANKLIN County, Thomas Kerr: Good weather for fruit harvest. Seeding cover crop on land harvested as silage, and harvesting corn for grain that was planted early.

CENTRE County, Dick A. Decker: Good week for field work. 1 inch of rainfall.
