USDA Announces Investments in Community Facilities
Pennsylvania Ag Connection - 08/14/2019

Pennsylvania State Director Curt Coccodrilli for USDA's Rural Development announced an investment in Community Facilities that will benefit 8,800 Rural Pennsylvanians.

"Having access to safe and dependable healthcare is foundational to quality of life in any community," Coccodrilli said. "Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, USDA is committed to being a strong partner to rural communities to build the facilities in which these essential services are located, and to improve the infrastructure these services rely on to operate in rural America."

USDA is making investments and has additional funding available through the Community Facilities Direct Loan Program. Interested applicants should contact their USDA Rural Development state office.

LifeQuest in Bucks County used loans of $40,077,000 and $1,500,000 to construct 123 new assisted living units -- a 73 unit wing and a 50 unit wing, both attached to the existing nursing center. In addition, the project funds were used for renovation and expansion to the existing kitchen, renovation of Wing B nursing center to implement a 10-15 bed memory care unit, and conversion of the existing laundry facility to an activity room for the memory care residents. The Village at LifeQuest will be holding a ribbon cutting grand opening to announce this investment Aug. 15.

More than 100 types of projects are eligible for funding under USDA's Community Facilities program. Eligible applicants include municipalities, public bodies, nonprofit organizations and federally recognized Native American tribes. Projects must be in rural areas with a population of 20,000 or less.
