Join in Farmers Union Virtual Annual Meeting
By: Heidi Secord, Pennsylvania Farmers Union - 02/19/2021

As state president of the Pennsylvania Farmers Union, I am cordially inviting you to join and participate in our upcoming virtual Annual Meeting Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out our exceptional agenda and line up of speakers at pafarmersunion.org/pfu-annual-meeting/. While we will miss seeing all of you in person, we are embracing this pioneering virtual format as a way to possibly reach more of farmers and new members. We hope that you are able to join us!

As a reminder, Pennsylvania Farmers Union represents and advocates for independent farmers, family farmers, and ranchers in our Commonwealth and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. We contend that our array of diversified regional family farms creates a resilient, vital, and productive agricultural system that feeds our communities especially through the use of sustainable and regenerative techniques to grow the food that sustains us.

I am sure that this assertion resonates with you. As a farmer myself, in Northeastern Pennsylvania, I find this to be true for our operation. Our farm supports a community of over 400 CSA members and farm stand customers. Our strength comes not just from our customers' support, but also from the extraordinary farmers we work with throughout our region. This cooperation and working together is vital to the health of the local and regional supply chain that strengthens our local economies; and in no small measure is what allowed us to pivot to needs necessitated by the regrettable global pandemic.

Our united voices need to be heard in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C., now more than ever! We must support the essential work we do as farmers. Stand with us in being the change that empowers Farmers Union to represent your best interests. Pennsylvania Farmers Union represents you at the State Assembly and at the National Congress. Both regional and national issues are tackled. Current priorities include the provision of educational opportunities, especially for youth, beginning farmers, urban farmers, and veterans. And our support for the cooperative business model.

Pennsylvania Farmers Union advocates for the sovereign right of farmers to create and sustain vibrant and prosperous agricultural communities for the benefit of all people through cooperation, education, and legislation. Please support our work through your involvement and active participation.

Pennsylvania Farmers Union empowers our Commonwealth's farmers to thrive and make a viable living while stewarding our lands, waters, and communities. Our aim is to serve as a bridge between farmers and consumers through vibrant, local community chapters throughout each region. Stay active and engaged with our work -- Farmers Union strong!
