Pennsylvania Farmers Seeing Some Mold in Soybeans
Pennsylvania Ag Connection - 10/10/2018
Pennsylvania had a good week for field activities with an average of 4.5 days suitable for field work. Temperatures were reported with a high of 87F, a low of 38F and a state average temperature of 65F.
Finally, parts of Pennsylvania experienced a break from the rain along with progressively warmer temperatures throughout the week and into the weekend.
Grain corn harvests have begun for early plantings while corn silage progress nearing completion.
Soybeans are said to be dropping leaves quickly but there are some concerns about condition with reports citing mold and "mushy pods".
Apple harvests continue, along with concerns about quality due to wet weather.
Improved weather allowed for fieldwork catch-up but fields remain wet making progress difficult. Field activities included grain corn and silage cutting as well as spreading manure and planting wheat and cover crops.
