Keystone Farmers Have Excellent Weather for Fall Work

Pennsylvania had an excellent week for field activities with an average of 6.5 days suitable for field work. Temperatures were reported with a high of 86F, a low of 32F and a state average temperature of 54 F.

Dry and warm conditions continued during the week. The dry conditions have accelerated maturing crops and hay production.

According to reporters apple harvest continues with better yields than expected. A good quality dry hay was made during the week.

Producers are still busy in their fields with harvesting and land preparation. Field activities for the week involved harvesting apples and soybeans, corn silage cutting and the planting of winter grain which is near completion.
