According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.
Topsoil moisture supplies were 13 percent short, 86 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 2 percent short, 92 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus.
Fifty-one percent of the corn planted emerged, compared to 65 percent last year and 62 percent for the 5-year average. Corn height was reported at an average of 11 inches, compared to 7 inches last year.
Soybeans planted was 64 percent, comparable to the 5-year average of 66 percent. Forty-seven percent of soybeans are emerged, comparable to the 5-year average of 44 percent.
Pennsylvania winter wheat headed was 63 percent, far behind 88 percent last year and the 5-year average of 81 percent.
Fifty-one percent of Pennsylvania's alfalfa hay first cutting was complete while 38 percent of other hay completed first cutting.
