The Penn State Extension Weed Science program, supported by funding from the Pennsylvania Soybean Board, is seeking to assess the return-on-investment (ROI) of See & Spray technology for grain producers in the Commonwealth.
In 2025, demonstration and strip trials will be conducted near State College to explore the effectiveness of this technology in soybean production.
To enhance the study, Penn State Extension is inviting early adopters of See & Spray technology to share their data, which will help identify ROI trends that benefit producers, agronomists, and policymakers.
The request is for early adopters to partner with the Penn State team by providing access to the John Deere Operations Center. This will allow the team to view the "As-Applied Maps" and field boundary data layers for the technology.
Additionally, growers are asked to contact Penn State staff 1 to 3 days before their primary POST applications in soybeans to facilitate field visits.
The Penn State team will conduct surveys at these locations, focusing on the primary weed species targeted by See & Spray.
At the end of the 2025 season, a summary report will be created, sharing statewide data on ROI, which will include insights on factors such as herbicide inputs, weed species, application timing, and crop yields.
The data shared will remain anonymous, with no farm-specific data being published. Interested parties can reach out to John Wallace, Extension Weed Specialist, at jmw309@psu.edu or by texting/calling 208-874-2887 for more information.
