Visitors to the Giant Expo Hall can explore Penn State Extension and the College of Agricultural Sciences at their main booth (#2202), where hands-on exhibits and expert-led activities provide engaging, research-based learning experiences for all ages. Penn State Extension is excited to participate in the AgExplorers Program, designed to make learning interactive and enjoyable for attendees.
Booth 2202 will offer a wide range of activities across multiple areas:
- Technology and Engagement - The Touchpix Photo Booth allows visitors to use Penn State Extension-themed virtual backgrounds and take home personalized digital keepsakes. The Undergraduate Education, Development, and Alumni Relations area offers college planning guides, alumni pins, and chances to win a Berkey Creamery prize while learning about academic programs and alumni opportunities.
- Master Gardeners and Invasive Species - Guests can visit the Seed-Planting Station to create newspaper pots, plant seeds, and get expert gardening advice while learning about the Master Gardener program. The Invasive Species Wheel challenges visitors to identify good and bad insects, including spotted lanternflies and box tree moths.
- Water Resources Team - Attendees can participate in a VR Stream Scavenger Hunt to explore Pennsylvania streams and learn about stream health indicators. The Digital Water Wheel demonstrates water conservation and resource management practices.
- Family Well-Being and Mental Health - Visitors can spin a Prize Wheel to discover programs that support mental wellness and resilience and learn about nutrition for brain health and overall well-being.
- Home Food Preservation - Booth activities provide guidance on safely handling, preserving, and storing food to prevent foodborne illness and pest issues.
Beyond Booth 2202, Penn State Extension educators will also be active throughout the Farm Show, including pesticide education (#707), forestry and wildlife (#803), and agricultural conservation (#2516).
Additional demonstrations cover livestock care, mushroom production, beekeeping, winemaking, and Christmas tree farming, offering comprehensive educational opportunities for all attendees.
