Eleven Veteran Farms Receive Grants to Boost Operations

Eleven Veteran Farms Receive Grants to Boost Operations

Pennsylvania is supporting veteran farmers with grants to help them grow their businesses. The state awarded $200,000 to the PA Veteran Farming Network, which then distributed grants of up to $10,000 to individual veteran farmers.

One recipient, C.J. Lafferty, used his grant to fund a livestock watering system on his farm. He said the grant has helped him increase productivity and profitability.

Agriculture Secretary Russel Redding said the grants are a way to thank veterans for their service and to support the state's agricultural industry. He noted that only 2% of Americans work in agriculture production and that 2% are veterans, highlighting the importance of veteran farmers to the nation's security and food security.

The grant program is one of several initiatives that the state is using to boost veteran employment and keep military servicemembers in Pennsylvania.
