AgroFresh Solutions, Inc., Philadelphia, announced their participation in Interpoma in Bolzano, Italy, Nov. 17-19. Interpoma is the only international trade show dedicated exclusively to the world of apples, from production to storage to marketing. Two decades ago AgroFresh revolutionized the fruit and produce industry with the introduction of SmartFresh, the first (1-MCP) ethylene management technology to delay the ripening process in apples. Today, AgroFresh's complete portfolio for apples includes near- and post-harvest ethelyne management solutions, digital monitoring and analytics technology, fungicides, coatings, sanitizers, detergents and packaging-line equipment.
"At AgroFresh, we have been committed to the apple industry for over twenty years which started with the introduction of the SmartFresh Quality System," said Conor Walshe, commercial business director EMEA for AgroFresh. "We're excited to come together with experts from around the world to share our newest innovations and growing portfolio of solutions that help growers, packers and retailers protect the freshness of their harvest at each step of the value chain, reducing food waste and conserving global resources."
At Interpoma, AgroFresh experts will share information about their growing range of innovative freshness solutions for apples, including:
FreshCloud -- AgroFresh's integrated digital platform uses aggregated data, machine learning and artificial intelligence to sustainably address food waste reduction and derive quality and supply chain insights, allowing for real time decisions with live analytics. Live demonstrations of the digital platform will take place at the AgroFresh booth in the FreshCloud Corner.
FreshStart -- This year, the company launched new disinfectants for the disinfection of washing water in contact with apples that are organic certified by CAAE. FreshStart degrades quickly without leaving residues and can decrease contaminants in water treatment and help make water recycling more efficient and less costly. These disinfectants work as a complement to fungicides for optimal rot control.
Harvista -- AgroFresh's near-harvest solution, Harvista helps growers control how and when apples ripen, controlling peak ripeness, helping to extend the harvest window and allowing them to adjust to unexpected weather conditions, climate changes and labor availability. The unique mode of action allows for flexible use with proven efficacy to increase quality yield and reduce waste. In 2022, Harvista was approved via emergency permit for use in several European countries, including Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Portugal, Poland and the Piamonte region in Italy.
SmartFresh Quality System -- The original and now industry leading 1-MCP ethylene management technology that revolutionized the apple industry 20 years ago. SmartFresh also has a proven impact on sustainability and energy savings, recent studies demonstrated through the combined use of SmartFresh and controlled atmosphere storage the average energy savings was up to 7500 kWh during 6 months of storage (36% savings). This solution is now available for a wide range of crops such as pears, plums, peaches and kiwifruits. As the continued industry experts, AgroFreshTM Verified analysis and reporting service provides customers technical support and confirmation of successful application through in-house testing labs.
