Pennsylvania Apple Harvest Lagging Behind Average

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 10 percent very short, 40 percent short, and 50 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supplies were 23 percent very short, 39 percent short, and 38 percent adequate.

Apples harvested were 41 percent, behind last year's 62 percent and the five-year average of 52 percent. Pennsylvania peaches was 85 percent, near last year and the five-year average.

Tobacco cut in Pennsylvania was nearing completion at 95 percent, ahead of 2019's 90 percent and the five-year average of 87 percent.
