Pennsylvanians Get 4 Days Suitable for Fieldwork

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 4 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 4 percent short, 77 percent adequate, and 19 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 4 percent short, 73 percent adequate, and 23 percent surplus.

Pennsylvania apples are 47 percent harvested, well ahead of last year's 40 percent and on par with the give-year average of 49 percent. Peaches harvested are 75 percent, behind both last year and the five-year average of 84 and 87 percent, respectively.

Tobacco cut was nearing completion at 95 percent, on par with last year and ahead of the five-year average of 87 perent.

Oats harvested for grain was also nearing completion at 95 perent.

Corn harvested for silage was 24 percent, really behind last year's 41 percent complete at this point in the season.

Fall tillage was 10 percent complete, behind last year and the five-year averages of 21 and 17 percent, respectively.
