Tara Mondock to Lead Ag Sciences Communications

Tara Mondock to Lead Ag Sciences Communications

By Blake Jackson

Tara Mondock has been appointed director of college relations and communications for Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences. Her role begins on June 2, as she takes over from Mary Wirth, who is retiring in August after serving since 2001.

Mondock brings extensive experience from her current position as associate director for client relations with Penn State Extension. In her new role, she will oversee the college’s strategic internal and external communications. She will work to enhance the college's relationships with alumni, industry leaders, legislators, and future students. Her efforts will support the college's three main focus areas: education, research, and extension.

“Mary Wirth has done an outstanding job elevating the visibility and impact of our college and Penn State Extension, and we’re grateful for her leadership and commitment,” said Troy Ott, dean of the college. “I’m confident that Tara will bring the same energy, enthusiasm and dedication to advancing our mission and strengthening our connection with communities and stakeholders across the commonwealth.”

For the past eight years, Mondock has been a key member of Extension’s executive leadership team. She has played a vital role in aligning programs with community needs and expanding their impact. Her efforts have helped empower farmers, youth, and local communities with science-based education and solutions in agriculture and natural resources.

Before joining Penn State in 2017, Mondock worked in health care information technology, serving as chief revenue officer and senior vice president at eSolutions. Her 25-year career included roles in service, sales, and leadership. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Western Carolina University and is a graduate of Stanford University’s Executive Leadership Program.

Mondock is also active in several community and heritage organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
