The Educator’s Ag Institute invites formal PreK-12th grade educators, pre-service teachers, and informal community educators to register for an immersive learning experience in agriculture. The registration deadline is Monday, May 26, and the program is set to take place in State College, Pennsylvania.
Participants will earn valuable Act 48 hours while exploring agriculture through tours, field visits, and expert sessions. The Institute is designed to provide educators with first-hand exposure to farming practices, agricultural research, and industry trends to help them integrate agricultural knowledge into their classrooms.
Ag Institute 1.0, intended for first-time attendees, runs from Sunday, June 22 to Thursday, June 26. It includes visits to a dairy farm, the Penn State University Arboretum, a bison farm, and discussions on global agriculture. Attendees can earn 25 to 28 Act 48 hours. The registration fee is $125, which covers lodging and most meals.
Ag Institute 2.0, designed for returning participants, will be held from Wednesday, June 25 to Friday, June 27. This program explores agriculture in more detail with visits to the PSU Student Farm, Entomological Museum, and Master Gardener sessions. Participants may earn 13 to 15 Act 48 hours. The cost remains $125, including meals and lodging.
Organized by the Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation, the Educator’s Ag Institute offers classroom-based lessons and field-based learning, helping educators understand topics like plant and animal science, sustainable farming, agricultural history, education standards, and new farming technologies.
This opportunity allows educators to connect with agricultural professionals, farmers, and researchers, making agriculture more accessible and engaging for their students.
