The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has designated several Pennsylvania counties as natural disaster areas due to losses caused by a freeze event.
The designation allows eligible agricultural producers to apply for emergency loans through the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA).
These loans are intended to help farmers recover from disaster-related losses by covering expenses such as replacing damaged equipment or livestock, restructuring farm operations, and refinancing certain existing debts.
Loan applications will be evaluated based on the extent of damage, available collateral, and the applicant’s ability to repay.
Primary counties covered under the designation include Adams, Cumberland, Lackawanna, Montour, and York. Farmers in several neighboring counties are also eligible for assistance.
Producers seeking support should contact their local USDA Service Center to report losses, learn about available disaster programs, and receive guidance on the application process. The deadline to apply for emergency loan assistance is January 26, 2027.
