Connect With Penn State Students for Vineyard Summer Jobs

Connect With Penn State Students for Vineyard Summer Jobs

By Blake Jackson

Pennsylvania vineyard and winery owners are encouraged to connect with Penn State undergraduate students enrolled in a viticulture course at the University Park campus for potential summer employment opportunities.

Many students are eager to gain hands-on experience in commercial vineyard and winery operations, helping with daily tasks while developing practical skills essential for a career in the grape and wine industry.

Interested employers should email Cain Hickey, Assistant Teaching Professor of Viticulture and course instructor, at viticulture@psu.edu to express their interest.

Emails should include the business name, location, expected daily responsibilities, and any other details that will help students understand the position. Submitted opportunities will then be shared with students enrolled in the course.

Additionally, employers are encouraged to post summer job openings on the Pennsylvania Winery Association’s online marketplace and notify Cain once the listing is live.

This initiative is designed to create a mutually beneficial partnership, providing students with meaningful, real-world experience while supporting workforce development in Pennsylvania’s grape and wine industry.

Students gain practical skills, and employers access motivated, industry-ready talent for the busy summer season.
