Center for Dairy Excellence Boosts Dairy Careers

By Blake Jackson

Pennsylvania’s dairy industry remains a major contributor to the state’s economy, generating approximately $11.1 billion annually and supporting more than 46,000 jobs.

To help dairy farms connect with qualified employees, the Center for Dairy Excellence continues promoting its online “Dairy Job Opportunities” resource for producers seeking workers for their operations.

The platform allows dairy producers to submit job openings that are then shared through the Center’s professional network and digital communication channels. Opportunities can include full-time, part-time, hourly, or internship positions available on dairy farms across Pennsylvania.

“We developed this resource to help Pennsylvania dairy producers have an outlet for sharing the jobs they have available on their farms with people who are passionate about dairy. Once a job opportunity is submitted, we work to share it with our network of dairy professionals, including young dairy professionals who might be entering the workforce,” said Emily Barge, Communications and Marketing Manager at the Center for Dairy Excellence.

“Several individuals have connected with dairy farms and discovered jobs that match their interests after first seeing them on the job page. We hope it continues to be a valuable resource for producers across the state.”

To post a position, dairy producers are asked to provide details such as the job title, employment type, farm name, responsibilities, contact information, and an application if available.

The online tool has already received more than 100 job submissions, helping farms reach candidates specifically interested in dairy careers.

“I found the career link postings on the Center for Dairy Excellence’s (CDE) website very beneficial because it put the jobs out there for those truly interested in dairy farm positions,” shared Justin, a PA dairy farmer.

“I had a number of qualified applicants say they saw the job on the CDE website, so it does reach those truly searching online.”

The Center also supports workforce development through its Dairy Herd Manager Apprenticeship Program, which provides employment opportunities for individuals ages 18 and older on progressive dairy operations.
