According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 5.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.
Topsoil moisture supplies were 12 percent very short, 36 percent short, 49 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 17 percent very short, 33 percent short, 48 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus.
Corn silking reached 95 percent, the same as the five-year average. Corn in dough stage was 68 percent, on par with the five-year average of 66 percent. Corn dented was 22 percent, slightly behind the five-year average of 28 percent.
Pennsylvania soybeans setting pods was 81 percent, ahead of the five-year average of 75 percent.
Tobacco cutting was 87 percent, slightly behind last year's pace of 90 percent but far ahead of the five-year average of 64 percent.
