Free Dairy Farm Safety Videos and Signs for Producers

Free Dairy Farm Safety Videos and Signs for Producers

By Blake Jackson

As spring fieldwork intensifies across many Pennsylvania dairy farms, the Center for Dairy Excellence is reminding producers to prioritize safety by offering free educational resources, including farm safety signs and a short video series designed for on-farm training.

The “Seconds for Your Safety” video series features brief, approximately 60-second clips that provide practical safety reminders for dairy workers and farm families.

These videos are available in both English and Spanish, making them accessible to a wider farm workforce. They can be easily viewed and shared on computers or mobile devices throughout the year to reinforce safe practices.

Topics covered in the series include fire safety, preventing corrosion-related accidents, avoiding entanglement hazards, staying safe around animals and gases, electrical safety precautions, preventing tractor and truck rollovers, fall prevention, youth farm safety, and safety measures related to horizontal silos.

“The ‘Seconds for Your Safety’ videos are being watched by myself and others on our farm. I think what is most useful on our farm are the facts in the videos which make us aware of the dangers of our occupation. Farmers need to become safer in everything that we do. Hopefully these videos will help us,” said Diane Hartman of Scattered Acres Farm.

In addition to the videos, the Center is distributing free farm safety signage sets to help producers display key reminders across their operations.

Each set includes six signs, with one focused specifically on biosecurity. All materials are provided in both English and Spanish.

Farmers interested in receiving safety signs can request them while supplies last by visiting www.centerfordairyexcellence.org/farm-safety or calling 717-346-0849. The full video series is also available online at the same website.
