Farm Bill Supports Pennsylvania Farmers

Farm Bill Supports Pennsylvania Farmers

By Blake Jackson

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly voted in favor of the 2026 Farm Bill, a major policy package that strengthens agriculture and rural communities. The legislation moved forward to the Senate for further review and consideration. It aims to support farmers, ranchers, and producers through a wide range of programs.

The Farm Bill focuses on improving rural economies by increasing investments and bringing stability to agricultural markets. It supports better forest management and helps restore confidence in interstate trade. These steps help farmers operate in a more stable and predictable environment.

The bill also improves risk management tools for specialty crop producers and lowers energy costs in rural areas. It promotes American products in global markets and increases access to credit for farmers. In addition, it supports precision agriculture and expands conservation programs that protect working lands.

"The 2026 Farm Bill builds upon the historic investments in agriculture programs included in the Working Families Tax Cuts passed last summer," said Rep. Kelly, who serves as Ways & Means Tax Subcommittee Chairman. "Nearly 1 in 10 jobs in Pennsylvania is tied to agriculture. This legislation strengthens Pennsylvania farm families by investing more here at home, while also allowing local producers to trade in new international markets. The Farm Bill is a win across the board for producers and consumers alike."

The legislation provides strong financial benefits. It increases support for risk programs and expands conservation funding. Farmers see savings through lower crop insurance costs. The bill also protects thousands of family farms from tax burdens and invests in agricultural research at public universities.

Specialty crop producers receive additional support through research funding and insurance programs. The bill also strengthens livestock protection by investing in biosecurity systems.

Supported by many agricultural organizations, the Farm Bill plays a key role in improving farm income, supporting rural jobs, and creating long-term growth opportunities in agriculture.
