Explore Ag Energy Innovations at Ag Progress Days 2025

The Penn State Extension Energy Team is set to highlight the latest in agricultural energy innovation at the 2025 Ag Progress Days, Pennsylvania’s leading outdoor agricultural event, held August 12-14 in Rock Springs.

Throughout the expo, visitors can connect with energy experts at the Extension booth inside the Harrington Building, where engaging displays and practical tools will showcase the energy solutions transforming Pennsylvania agriculture.

A key feature of this year’s event is the Energy Showcase, taking place on Tuesday, August 12, in the American National Learning Center Building.

This one-day presentation series offers in-depth discussions on clean energy strategies, financial tools, and the future of energy in agriculture.

Energy Showcase - Tuesday, August 12

Location: American National Learning Center Building

10:00 a.m. - Anaerobic Digestion Opportunities in PA

  • Presenter: Matthew Svetz, Penn State Extension
  • Discover how anaerobic digestion can turn farm waste into energy, providing both environmental and financial benefits.

10:30 a.m. - Credit Markets for Renewables

  • Presenter: Ed Johnstonbaugh, Exodus Renewables
  • Learn how to access renewable energy credit markets to support clean energy investments on your property.

11:00 a.m. - Pennsylvania’s Ag Energy Forecast

  • Presenter: Joe Conklin, Penn State Extension
  • Gain insights into the state's future energy landscape and its implications for agricultural producers.

11:30 a.m. - What’s the Best Energy Source?

  • Presenter: Tom Bereznyak, Penn State Extension
  • Compare energy options for your operation to find the most cost-effective and sustainable solution.

12:00 p.m. - Q&A Session

  • Led by Dan Brockett, Penn State Extension
  • Ask questions and receive personalized advice from energy experts.

In addition to the showcase, Extension educators will be on hand all week at the Harrington Building booth to discuss solar, wind, energy efficiency, and bioenergy.

Attendees can explore decision-making tools and receive tailored guidance for improving their energy strategies.
