People in the mood for a sweet treat this holiday season should visit Penn State's Berkey Creamery for a scoop of its newest flavor: Salted Caramel Cheesecake.
The flavor will be available for a limited time through the end of December along with returning holiday flavor Peppermint Stick. Salted Caramel Cheesecake is the first new flavor created by the creamery since White Out was announced in fall 2018.
According to Creamery Manager Tom Davis, the new flavor features a cheesecake ice cream base with a salted caramel swirl and pillows of graham cracker cheesecake.
"We wanted to expand our line of cheesecake flavors -- which includes strawberry and blueberry -- with a new one fitting for the holiday season," Davis said. "We hope customers craving rich and festive flavors will enjoy this taste of a salted caramel cheesecake in a bowl or cone!"
Customers can purchase the new flavor in the store, online or across Penn State Food Services locations.
The creamery normally is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Changes to operating hours due to Penn State's upcoming winter break will be posted on the creamery's website and social media channels.
The Penn State Berkey Creamery, the largest university creamery in the United States, produces ice cream, cheese, milk, yogurt and sour cream, as well as a variety of other products, such as juices, lemonade and iced teas.
