Pennsylvania Farmers Halfway Through Barley Harvest



According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 10 percent very short, 34 percent short, and 56 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supplies were 10 percent very short, 15 percent short, and 75 percent adequate.

Barley harvested for grain was 50 percent complete this week.

Corn emerged is at 97 percent. Soybeans emerged was 90 percent and 5 percent of the crop is reported blooming.

First cutting of alfalfa hay is 75 percent complete, while second cutting has progressed to 52 percent complete. Other hay on first cutting was 66 percent complete, while second cutting stands at 25 percent complete.
