Pennsylvania Apples and Peaches Mostly Good to Excellent Aug 1 - 7



According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 5.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 10 percent very short, 38 percent short, and 52 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supplies were 13 percent very short, 30 percent short, 57 percent adequate.

Seventy-three percent of Pennsylvania apples rated good to excellent, while 88 percent of peaches rated good.

The state corn crop rated 3 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 45 percent good and 20 percent excellent. Soybeans rated 8 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 57 percent good and 4 percent excellent.

Pastures were rated 10 percent very poor, 17 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 39 percent good and 1 percent excellent.
