Pennsylvania had a good week for field activities with an average of 5.5 days suitable for field work. Temperatures were reported with a high of 91F, a low of 46F and a state average temperature of 71.2F. Good week for crops, with showers and reasonable temperatures.

Peach harvest is nearing the end. Quality is excellent, and yields are better than average in some varieties.

Apples are doing well with reports that more varieties will be harvested early.

For the most part, fruit and vegetables are doing okay, sweet corn reported as outstanding yields and quality.

Corn and soybeans continue to mature and looking like yields should be pretty decent this year.

Hay-making continues to be a challenge with the intermittent rain.

Main activities for the week included haymaking, fall tillage, planting cover crops and spraying.
