Pennsylvania Apples, Peaches Mostly Good

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supplies were 6 percent very short, 48 percent short, and 46 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supplies were 3 percent very short, 32 percent short, and 65 percent adequate.

Barley harvested for grain was at 94 percent while winter wheat harvested for grain was at 9 percent.

Alfalfa hay in second cutting was 54 percent and other hay in second cutting was 13 percent.

Pennsylvania apples were rated 3 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 72 percent good and 1 percent excellent. Pennsylvania peaches were rated 5 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 20 percent fair, 70 percent good and 0 percent excellent.
