Pennsylvania Would Welcome a Dry Week
Pennsylvania Ag Connection - 05/22/2018
Pennsylvania had a poor week for field activities with an average of 1.5 days suitable for field work. Temperatures were reported with a high of 90F, a low of 32F and a state average temperature of 63F.
Abundant rainfall throughout the state with severe hail in some areas severely limited field activities while continuing to delay plantings of oats, corn and soybeans for many.
Fruit damage from hail was reported as minor and fruit condition still looks promising.
High levels of moisture have raised concern over weed control and slug infestations.
A dry week would be welcome on all accounts.
Reports of field activates were limited to plowing and spraying.
