Bucks Co. Showman Tops Junior Beef Honors

Young beef cattle enthusiasts demonstrated their skills as master showmen during the 102nd Pennsylvania Farm Show.

The youth showmen qualified for the event, by demonstrating extraordinary skills in presenting their beef cattle before judges in their breed classes. Exhibitors with the ability to smoothly handle and showcase their animals for the benefit of a judge were selected to compete in the master showmanship competition.

Justin Awckland, Quakertown, Bucks Co. was honored as Overall Showman. A sophomore at Delaware Valley University majoring in Agribusiness, he has participated in 4-H contests at the state and national levels. He has shown market steers, breeding beef, and market goats at the Farm Show. Justin hopes to pursue a career in the livestock industry, including raising his own herd of beef cattle in a commercial and maintaining a string of show cattle.

The first place winners in each age division:

Division I: Justin Awckland, Quakertown, Bucks Co.

Division II: Nick Yocum, Orbisonia, Huntingdon Co.

Division III: Kiersten Baker, James Creek, Huntingdon Co.

Division IV: Braden Durst, Meyersdale, Somerset Co.

The second place winners in each age division:

Division I: Jade Zimmerman, Manheim, Lancaster Co.

Division II: Kaitlin Bell, Nottingham, Chester Co.

Division III: Rylee Stockdale, Dayton, Armstrong Co.

Division IV: Zoey Baker, James Creek, Huntingdon Co.

Overall Showman: Justin Awckland, Quakertown, Bucks Co.
