Pennsylvania Crop Value Up 9 Percent

The value of Pennsylvania's 2017 field and miscellaneous crops is forecast at $2.19 billion, according to King Whetstone, director of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, Northeastern Regional Field Office. This is up 9 percent from 2016.

The value of corn for grain production is expected to total $562.9 million, up 14 percent from the previous marketing year; production was up 21 percent. Pennsylvania's corn price is projected to average $3.80 per bushel, a decrease of $0.24 from the last marketing year.

The value of soybean production is expected to total $259.7 million, up 8 percent from the previous marketing year; production was up 11 percent. Soybean price is projected to average $9.25 per bushel, down $0.29 from the last marketing year.
