Under Dry Conditions, Pennsylvania Fall Tillage Ahead of 2019

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 5.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supplies were 19 percent very short, 38 percent short, and 43 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supplies were 32 percent very short, 38 percent short, and 30 percent adequate.

Pasture and range conditions are 30 percent very poor, 32 percent poor, 21 fair, 16 perent good and 1 percent excellent.

Fall tillage was 57 percent complete compared to 48 percent last year at this time.

Winter wheat planted was 64 percent, compared to the five-year average of 69 percent. Emerged was reported at 31 percent.
