Registration Holds Placed for Students Without Vaccines
Pennsylvania Ag Connection - 10/11/2017

Beginning Wednesday, registration holds will be placed for students who have not submitted mandatory immunization information through myUHS. The registration hold will prohibit students from scheduling for spring 2018 courses until the requirement has been met. This will primarily impact students new to the University in summer and fall 2017.

The registration hold follows a series of communications issued by the University that began in February 2017. Current and incoming students at all campus locations were instructed to complete and upload the Penn State Immunization Verification Form through University Health Services' myUHS portal. Over the past eight months, numerous reminders have been issued with a final warning sent to all noncompliant students on Sept. 25.

To have the registration hold removed, students must complete the two-step process outlined on the University Health Services website. Students must download and print the Penn State Immunization Verification Form, and take the form to their health care provider for completion. Once completed, images of the form must be uploaded to University Health Services' myUHS portal for final review and approval.

Within three business days from submission, students will receive a secure message through myUHS alerting them of their immunization compliance status.

Penn State requires that undergraduate and graduate students be immunized against measles, mumps and rubella. In addition, all students living in University housing must receive the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), which protects against infections caused by serogroups A, C, W and Y. Immunization requirements apply to students at all Penn State campuses, with the exception of Great Valley and World Campus.

Immunizations offer safe and effective protection from vaccine-preventable diseases and help further Penn State's mission to provide a safe, secure and healthy learning environment to all students.

To learn more about immunization requirements or waiver standards for religious, medical or philosophical exemptions, visit the University Health Services website.

Registration for spring 2018 classes begins Oct. 11 and continues through mid-November. To view the registration timetable, visit registrar.psu.edu.
