Third-Cutting Pennsylvania Alfalfa Nears Completion

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 7.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 18 percent very short, 41 percent short, and 41 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supplies were 22 percent very short, 42 percent short, and 36 percent adequate.

Pennsylvania apple harvest advanced to 50 percent while the peach harvest was reported at 89 percent complete.

Fall tillage was 25 percent and barley planted was reported at 36 percent.

Third cutting of alfalfa hay was nearing completion at 96 percent while the fourth cutting was reported at 28 percent.
