Maryland Teen Wins Intermediate Showmanship Division

Bryce Zepp, 15 of New Windsor, Md., rose to the top over 177 competitors to become champion intermediate showman during the 22nd Youth Showmanship Contest during the 2019 All-American Dairy Show at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

The contest is part of the Premier National Junior Events, the activities at the core of the All-American that encourage youth to pursue careers in the dairy industry through competitions that test dairy skills and knowledge. In showmanship, participants are evaluated on their ability to best showcase their animal to a judge.

Through 11 preliminary heats and additional semi-final rounds, Scott Youse, of Ridgely, Md., selected ten finalists and additional honorable mention recipients.

Zepp received a $100 cash award and a custom embroidered director's chair compliments of Golden Oaks Farm. The top 10 showmen received: a backpack compliments of Bock's Identi Company; a neck medallion courtesy of Fight Bac, Dr. Geoffrey Westfall; Andis clippers compliments of the Andis Company; a custom embroidered blanket courtesy of Hoards Dairyman, Patty Hurtgen, online media manager; and an insulated cooler bag courtesy of Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program.

All participants received a coupon for a free milkshake, courtesy of the Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association.

7th -- Isaac Folts, 13, North Collins, NY.

8th -- Hayden Ayers, 12, Portageville, NY.

9th -- Kelsey Zepp, 13, New Windsor, MD.

10th -- McKenna Vest, 13, Clayton, DE.

Brown Swiss- Morgan Stone, 15, Greenfield, IN.

Guernsey- Bailey Wright, 13, Delkalb Jct., NY.

Red & White- Wesley Brantner, 15, Evans City, Butler County.

Milking Shorthorn- Dillon Freeman, 15, Bremen, IN.

Brown II, the highest placing Ayrshire showman, received an award sponsored by Jenny's Ayrshires, Jennifer Poole & family. The James L. Kennedy Family sponsored an embroidered travel bag for the highest placing Brown Swiss exhibitor. The highest placing intermediate Guernsey showman received an award courtesy of Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders Association. Rader, the highest placing Jersey showman, received a banner courtesy of Pennsylvania Jersey Breeders Association. ST-YLE Holsteins sponsored a banner for the highest placing Red & White exhibitor.
